Now, more than ever, the world needs more active participants to take a solid and public stance on inequality: both in the mineral resources sector and society in general. Ore Deposits Hub is dedicated to provide a welcoming and inclusive platform. We aspire for a diverse and representative schedule of speakers by striving for an equitable split between speakers of different backgrounds, genders and sexualities, and to generally broaden the global representation of geoscientists worldwide. As such, we call upon our community to reach out to and encourage your peers and colleagues, especially those from marginalized groups, to join the Ore Deposits Hub community.

Currently, the voices that dominate the channels of communication in our field are neither representative of the global mineral resources sector, nor society as a whole. Progress can be made through our commitment to nurturing a diverse and inclusive environment, where members feel comfortable that their contributions are recognized and that their opinions are respected. By giving our members access to role models and by providing a diverse view of our network, we can sustainably unlock knowledge and develop new ideas. Exclusion of any person from the ODH platform, whether deliberate or negligent, is morally unacceptable and runs counter to our equality goals. Ore Deposits Hub maintains the stance that we will not tolerate any disrespectful, prejudiced, or demeaning behavior between its members, and we will take any appropriate action to address concerns that arise in this regard.

Our objective is to strengthen ties and share knowledge among members of the global mineral resources community. To accomplish this and to lower the barriers to science, Ore Deposits Hub promises to offer our Wednesday seminar series as a free service and remain a not-for-profit platform. We will strive to advertise our presence beyond established networks as far and wide as we can, through collaboration with speakers, members, professional organizations, and groups using social media. We are also committed to finding solutions to technical barriers, e.g. internet connection speeds, censorship, and software sanctioning.

It is Ore Deposits Hub’s mission to include all those willing to learn and contribute; regardless of educational, socioeconomic, religious, racial/ethnic backgrounds, age, sexual identity, gender, and any other characteristics that could be used to divide us. We understand that our targets must be accomplished by taking a multifaceted approach that includes listening to feedback from our members. Therefore, our long term strategy is to consistently pursue an agenda of increased diversity, equality, and inclusion within our organization, and to reflect on our actions and community advice in order to improve.

Please email one of our Speaker and Inclusivity Liaisons, Wren Bruce or Neil Fernandes, if you have any complaints, questions, suggestions, or comments. We are happy to address and discuss any issues regarding how we can improve our current practice of creating a diverse geoscience community within Ore Deposits Hub.

Sincerely

Ore Deposits Hub Team
