Ore Deposits Hub was initiated to fill the gap left by cancelled conferences, talks and home-office isolation with open geoscience talks. Building a strong virtual community of ore deposit geoscientists is key amongst the challenges of COVID 19 but also for the future of global science. On this page, virtual science communication and research initiatives can be shared.

Virtual Conference – Responsible Raw Materials

Mining, and geology in general, has a PR problem, and the societal reboot which is about to occur is a tremendous opportunity. Next month, coinciding with World Earth Day, friends of ours are organising an online conference aiming to foster better understanding of the supply and consumption of mineral resources. You can find more information here https://www.responsiblerawmaterials.com/

The conference is over, but you can still watch all the sessions at the Responsible Raw Materials YouTube Channel!

Geological Resources Portal “Micro My Earth

Being removed from our natural geological habitat of field sites, labs, sample-filled offices and dynamic group discussions, the search for virtual resources has become a serious quest. But what to search for and how to find these essential tools?

Micro My Earth is a portal for all geoscience resources. Over 20 podcasts and webinars, 18 virtual field trips and over 80 other geo-resources – including virtual thin sections, open access books, teaching resources, lectures and even 3D virtual rocks, at your fingertips.

Micro My Earth is an initiative by Dr. Arthur “Turi” Adams, a Canadian carbonate sedimentologist working in Switzerland. If you have a geo-resources that you’d like to share email him at micromyearth@gmail.com and follow @MicroMyEarth on Twitter.
